Discussion about missing functions in Katowice’s cemeteries start with analyses of the funeral traditions of the citizens. Most of the cemeteries in this district are intended for Catholics. In dynamically transforming society young people more and more often abandon religious considerations in favor of ecologically conscious solutions.

Spacious city cemetery located between forest and park is on of the biggest necropolis in Silesia. Only 35% of the field is currently in use. Main goal was to extend the continuity of green area sand preserve natural stand. Masterplan shows the organic design of the paths with meander between the trees with graves on both sides.

Katowice has just 2 crematories. There is lack of alternative funeral solutions in Polish cemeteries. Crematory which I propose contain the space for funeral ceremony. The ashes could be buried in biodegradable urns on the field nearby with tree on it or in columbarium.
